Another trip to the Filipino store

E and I went to the Filipino store (again, I know) this morning for breakfast. This is a different Filipino store from the one we were at yesterday. We are very fortunate to be situated between two big Filipino communities. They're both only 45 minutes away from us in opposite directions.

E's leaving again for the Bay area for a few days. If I'm not too busy with school by that time, I'll probably drive out to spend time with him.

School is about to start!!! I'm going back on the 29th and I can not wait. I'm excited! I'm so tired of summer. I'm tired of the warm weather, shorts, sleeveless shirts, and shaving my legs everyday.

Oh yeah, did I mentioned that Fall is my favorite season of the year? It is, I love it. I'm so ready for long sleeve shirts, pants, the cool weather, leaves changing colors, and all the holidays coming up.

Mood:  a-ok
Whenever E and I go to the Filipino store, we always say we'll just pick up a few things. If you consider a few things to be a full shopping cart then maybe we do stick to our words. Jeesh, we have all kinds of chicheria you can think of. My pantry list includes polvoron, Clover and Oishi chips, Nagaraya cracker nuts, and Choc-nut just to name a few.

We went to Chowking for brunch and the food was really good. I felt like I'm back in Manila, especially when a langaw came hovering around us. We then picked up more stuff from Red Ribbon. We got our favorite sponge cake and some kind of Pandan flavored slushee thingamajig. Hay, ang sarap naman po talaga.

With all these food, no wonder E and I are gaining so much weight. Oh well...

Peachy's day at the beach
E and I had an impromptu out of town trip yesterday. We had dinner with his co-worker, Mike at Sta. Cruz. We went to a Thai restaurant where they just slurped the hot pepper sauce like nothing. Even the waitress was amazed at how much hot sauce they consumed. Mike seems to be very nice and intelligent. A very good conversationalist too.

We spent the night at the beautiful Carmel-by-the-Sea. Unlike the new, sterile-looking, cookie-cutter hotels that we usually stay at, we stayed in a small family owned inn. The place is old, has a flowery wall paper, and a small balcony with a view of the mountains. The building itself is kinda Tudor style and I find it very charming. Most importantly, the place is pet friendly! Yay! I was able to bring Peachy with me!

E had to drive to Stanford the next day so, Peachy and I went to the beach. There were so many dogs running around it looked like a dog park instead of a beach. The dogs must have outnumbered the people. Peachy and I walked and played a little. We also met a couple of kababayans fishing. I chatted with them while Peachy barks at every single dog that passed by as if she's much bigger than her dimunitive 12 lbs. Jeesh, she totally has the little dog syndrome.

We then walked around downtown to do some window shopping. There were a lot of shops and most are very upscale. The whole town looks beautiful and there were so many rich people. There's this lady with two dripping wet dogs from the beach and she load them up in her posh Jaguar. I love dogs and all but come on now, that's a Jag.

It was a nice short trip. I'm glad to see the beach one last time before I go back to school. Best of all, I get to spend some quality time with my Honey.

Back to school shopping
Mood:  not sure
I spent so much money today. I got my eyebrows done and I went shopping for school stuff. Of course, school stuff includes clothes, shoes, and a couple of notebooks. Yeah, that's right, just a couple. Gotta skimp on those notebooks so I can get more clothes. Hehehe.

E is still out of town and this is really starting to get on my nerves. I appreciate his job and all but, it makes him travel so much and it sucks that I don't get to spend time with him before school starts. Oh well, I'll just have to suck it up since his job pays for our mortgage.

Flooding in Sacramento
Mood:  accident prone
The weirdest thing happen yesterday: there was flood in Sactown after an hour or so of heavy rain and hail. I've never seen that before. I mean, flood, yes, I grew up in Malabon afterall. But flood in Sacto, that is something else.

The basement garage at my work looked like a lake or a very big pond. It's really sad since there were some cars that got stuck inside. Dr. Hayes' brand new BMW was there, and so was a couple of vans. Oh shoots, even our company van was in there.

It all happened so fast, the garage must have filled up with water in about 15 minutes. There really was no time to move the cars at all.

And then, the fire alarm inside the building went off. So, of course, we evacuated the building. The firemen came and found nothing really, just our system going wacko for some reason. It was a crazy, crazy day.

Neighbor's Pitbull
Mood:  loud
My neighbor's pitbull, actually they're a few houses down from us, scared the bejesus out of me. As I was walking Tyler today, this stupid pitbull got all excited, jumped out of his backyard, and took off after me and Tyler.

I saw him hopped the fence, which must be at least 6 feet tall and when he caught up with me and Tyler, I was sure he's going to attack us. I was so stunned to react at first but when his face was just inches away from Tyler, I let out this blood curdling scream. I screamed "NO!!!!" so loud that a guy from a street over rushed outside from his house to see what the hell is going on.

I must have looked very menacing to this dog when I screamed because I saw fear flashed on his face for a nanosecond. And that was for a good reason because I was seriously thinking of kicking him on the jaw if he takes one more step towards Tyler. I was scared shit too but I couldn't let anything happen to my baby.

We had a brief stand-off, he looked at me as if trying to measure me up. I held my ground and stared back at him. I then startled him by yelling "Go away!". He gave me one last look as if he's saying I'm one crazy woman before he turned around very sllooowwlly. I pulled Tyler to the opposite direction and we briskly head home.

When we got home, my hands were shaking and there's a funny taste in my mouth. It took a few minutes before I really calmed down. When I did, I walked to that dog's house, sans Tyler of course, just in time for his owner to pull up to their driveway. I told him what happened and he was very sorry. Apparently, this is not the first time his dog hopped the fence. The owner said that he might have to tie his dog up or something.

On my way back, I talked to the guy who heard my screams and he had no idea what happened until I explained it to him.

I know Tyler would have put up a good fight if it came to that but my boy is a lover, not a fighter.
I will get a pepper spray first thing in the morning because I refuse to have one stupid, butt-ugly dog run me off my street.

Sure, I will be scared but I will not let that stop me from walking Tyler. Next time that dog, or any dog for that matter tries to attack us, I'll pepper spray his face.

I sure learned a lot from this incident but I'd like to process them some more in my head. I'll post them later on.

E's home
Mood:  happy

E's home tonight! Yay! My poor baby works very hard and he's out of town most of the time. He'll be leaving again to go to a conference in Dallas. I don't like it when he's gone because I get the blues. But he got to do what he got to do and I guess I just have to busy myself with cleaning the house.

Arrgh, summer is soooo long. I so wish to be back in school soon. I hate to admit it but, yup, I miss school. Isn't that sad?

A walk with Tyler
Mood:  lazy
I took Tyler for a long walk yesterday to the park by the school. It was very relaxing, I'm glad I was able to spend time with my big boy.

Tyler is my very first dog. I got him when he was 3 months old. Even when he was a baby, he was already big and burly. He's all grown now and he's huge. But he is a gentle giant. He is very laid back and very handsome.

I made this chicken with peanut butter recipe I found last night. I gave it a shot because it sounded like the Thai dish that I like. Mwahahahaha. Big mistake. E ate it but I could tell he didn't like it. Bless his heart for not making a rude comment about it. It was pale in color and too peanut buttery.

I have other recipes I want to try out. I just hope E is sport enough to try out my weird ass looking dishes.

Moving Furniture
Mood:  a-ok
E and I moved the big computer desk from the home office to our bedroom. We were going to donate it to Goodwill but it's still so new that we decided to keep it. That table was huge! It was a lot of work moving it from one side of the house to the other.

But it's all good, I love doing stuff with E anyway. He has a happy disposition that kinda rubs off on me. I was kinda feeling sh**ty this morning because I had cramps but E made me laugh a lot while we were moving the furniture that I didn't feel the pain so much. Boy, I'd be miserable without him that's for sure.
